I offer supervision to counsellors and psychotherapists and others engaged in caring and helping roles.
My aim as a supervisor is to support the practitioner in their therapeutic relationships and with issues related to the setting of their work. Therapists within organisations often face complex dynamics as they balance the privacy of their work with the client with the demands and expectations of the organisational setting. I aim to recognize these different factors and help the practitioner develop, and survive these dynamics. I also try to facilitate a space in which the practitioner feels free to talk about their work without anxiety.
I see my role as a supervisor as giving support to colleagues in their efforts to reflect on their own practice towards understanding the internal dynamics of the relationships in which they are involved and to promote the sensitive and responsive use of themselves within their therapeutic relationships, to the benefit of their clients, while promoting the development of their own skills as practitioners. I hope colleqagues in supervision will feel able to make use of me to think creatively about the challenges and dilemmas they face in their practice.
I have been supervising colleagues in different work settings over the past 35 years. I have an Analytic Network Certificate in Supervision.
